Fujitsu P50XTA51UB Plasma HDTV and Leon Speakers Horizon 313-LCR Speaker System:
Full-On/Full-Off Contrast Ratio—515:1;
Measured Resolution with the Leader LT-446:
DC Restoration (poor, average, good, excellent):
Color Decoder (poor, average, good, excellent):
Measured Color Points:
The left chart shows the P50XTA51UB's gray scale relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 100 IRE is bright white). The gray scale as set by the factory, in the –3,500 K color-temperature mode measures very warm with dark images and slightly cool across the rest of the gray scale. After making adjustments using the Photo Research PR-650, the gray scale measures slightly warmer across the board. There is more green in the image, so the overall gray scale comes closer to D6500 after calibration. The right chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue phosphors. These are somewhat off those specified by SMPTE. Red is slightly oversaturated and slightly reddish-orange. Blue is very slightly undersaturated and very slightly greenish-blue. Green is oversaturated. After calibration, and using a full-field 100-IRE white (18.03 foot-lamberts) and a full-field 0-IRE black (0.035 ft-L), the contrast ratio was 515:1. Using a 16-box checkerboard pattern (ANSI contrast), the contrast ratio was 768:1. The best contrast ratio was achieved in the Natural mode setting. The P50XTA51UB was capable of 55.86 ft-L on a 100-IRE window. (It is normal for a plasma to have lower light output on a full-field white versus a white window.)—GM
