This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the EX-A10 (purple trace). The left channel was measured with grille at a distance of 1 meter.

The EX-A10's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures + 3.96 /– 2.34 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 59 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 53 Hz.—MJP

Speaker diaphragms of pressed birch seemed a novel idea. What the system gave was an involving sound with much of the feeling of old-fashioned, golden-age analog. JVC's two-decade R&D quest is not a dead end but an avenue worth pursuing, both for manufacturers and consumers.
