Consumers Buying More But Smaller TVs Bookmark and Share
October 2, 2009 — In the wake of the DTV transition, people are buying more TVs. They're also buying smaller ones, according to a survey by Retrovo Pulse.

The final act of the DTV transition, on June 12, motivated many of these sales. Another attraction is the increasing amount of HDTV available over the air and via cable, satellite, and (to a lesser extent) internet. Many of those who already owned HDTVs are now taking advantage of lower prices to put them in more rooms.

That last part may be what's driving the sales of smaller TVs. Sets up to 37 inches are now outselling those from 37 to 50 inches by 3:2. That's up considerably from the 1:1 ratio of a year ago. See Retrovo blog, via TWICE.
