Will Xbox Get Blu-ray?
In a series of interviews with Gizmodo, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer was asked whether Xbox would join PlayStation in the Blu-ray universe. His response was equivocal but left room for a glimmer of hope: "Well I don't know if we need to put Blu-ray in there—you'll be able to get Blu-ray drives as accessories." So it appears that Microsoft has no plans for built-in Blu-ray support but might allow add-ons. Might. Asked for comment, Xbox PR people responded: "Our immediate solution for Blu-ray-quality video on an Xbox 360 is coming this fall with Zune Video and 1080p instant-on HD streaming." In other words, don't hold your breath for Blu-ray—we're on the streaming bandwagon.
