Pioneer Elite SC-07 A/V Receiver:
The Pioneer SC-07 employs Faroudja processing. But it performs no video processing on HDMI inputs, only passthrough with excellent overall results—no clipping of the signal and full resolution to the limits with 1080p. The Pioneer also will not deinterlace a 1080i component input to 1080p. Although it will cross-convert analog 1080i to HDMI, these signals are also passed through at 1080i. The SC-07’s scaling and deinterlacing usability are limited by design, and many users may choose to set the receiver to pass all video inputs through to the output without processing. But despite its limitations and borderline analog resolution, it did perform subjectively well with an incoming 480i component input from standard-definition DVD, which it deinterlaced and scaled to 1080p over HDMI.—TJN
